Is this the right printer for you?
Who the Xerox AltaLink C8030 is actually for
Most equipment pages just tell you what a device does. Here's the honest version: when
this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We
offer equipment for every business need, but the right machine depends on your specific workflow.
Best fit
Pick this if...
You run a small office or workgroup of 5-30 people printing 5,000-12,000 color pages a month and need A3 (11x17/SRA3) color in-house.
You scan stacks of mixed-size originals daily — 130-sheet single-pass duplex DADF at 80 ppm simplex / 139 ipm duplex.
You're standardizing on the Xerox ConnectKey platform with the App Gallery (Box, Dropbox, OneDrive, Office 365, Google Drive, Salesforce).
You need real color security — McAfee Embedded Control, FIPS 140-2, Common Criteria HCD-PP v1.0, Cisco ISE.
You want the optional Four Tray Module to get up to 4,180 sheets standard capacity for mixed-stock workflows.
Works fine
You'll be happy if...
You print 12,000-20,000 pages/month — 30 ppm engine handles it but the C8035 at 35 ppm is right-sized with no real footprint penalty.
You want the EFI Fiery server for production-style RIP and PANTONE handling — the EX-c C8000 print server is an optional add, not standard.
You need wireless out of the box — Wi-Fi Direct requires the optional Xerox USB Wireless Adapter.
You bought it for one heavy color user and a half dozen mono users — you're paying a color premium per click that mono volume doesn't earn back.
Look elsewhere
Skip this if...
You print under 2,000 color pages/month — paying for a 321-lb floor-standing A3 color MFP that will sit idle. Get the VersaLink C7000 series.
You print over 20,000 pages/month — the C8030's 90K duty cycle and 12K AMPV are the smallest in the series; step up to the C8045/C8055/C8070.
You don't need A3 — every job is letter/legal — the VersaLink C500/C600 series handles that at half the footprint.
You don't have a 110V/15A dedicated circuit available.
You need color resolution above 1200 x 2400 dpi for true production-grade output — look at the Color 550 / 770 production presses.
Full specifications
Every spec, no guessing
The Xerox AltaLink C8030 is the entry point of the AltaLink C8000 color series — a floor-standing A3 color laser multifunction printer for small offices and workgroups of 5-30 people that need in-house tabloid color. It prints and copies at 30 ppm color and B&W (letter/A4), with first-page-out as fast as 6.5 seconds color / 5.3 seconds B&W. Monthly duty cycle is 90,000 pages with a recommended average monthly volume of 5,000 to 12,000 — the smallest in the C8000 series. The 130-sheet single-pass Duplex Automatic Document Feeder scans color and B&W at 80 ppm simplex / 139 ipm duplex. Standard paper capacity is 1,140 sheets (two 520-sheet trays + 100-sheet bypass); the optional Four Tray Module bumps that to 2,180 sheets and the High Capacity Tandem Tray gets you to 3,140. With the optional High Capacity Feeder, max system capacity reaches 5,140 sheets. Print resolution is 1200 x 2400 dpi; copy is 600 x 600. The 10.1-inch ConnectKey color touchscreen runs Workplace Suite/Cloud, the Xerox App Gallery, and the unified 5,000-contact address book. Connectivity standard is Gigabit Ethernet plus USB 2.0; Wi-Fi Direct and NFC are optional via the Xerox USB Wireless Adapter. Optional EX-c C8000 EFI Fiery print server adds production RIP and color management. Security stack includes McAfee Embedded Control whitelisting, AES 256-bit drive encryption, FIPS 140-2, Common Criteria HCD-PP v1.0, Cisco ISE. The thing buyers regret: the 12K-page recommended volume is small — if you actually print 18-22K/month, you'll burn through the cyan and magenta cartridges faster than ideal. Size up to the C8035 or C8045 if you suspect your real volume is north of 15K.
Three ways to get this printer, each priced to match how you actually use it. Most
small offices lease because toner and maintenance are bundled. If you know what you need, buy
outright. If you already own one, just reorder supplies.
Final lease rate depends on term length, credit profile, and bundled supplies. Outright purchase and
supplies pricing varies with bundled warranty, install packages, and order volume. Request a quote for
exact pricing.
