Every spec, no guessing
The Sharp MX-B557P is a 55-ppm desktop monochrome laser printer for small offices and workgroups of 10-25 people that need real touchscreen control, true 1,200 x 1,200 dpi, and room to scale paper capacity. It runs PCL 6 and PostScript 3, prints letter and legal (no 11x17), and pulls from a 550-sheet drawer plus a 100-sheet bypass standard (650 sheets total), expandable to 4,400 sheets with optional 250, 550, and 2,100-sheet feed units. The 4.3-inch color touchscreen handles print preview, settings, and direct print of BMP, DCX, DOC/DOCX, GIF, JPEG, PCX, PDF, PNG, PPT/PPTX, TIFF, XLS/XLSX, and XPS via FTP, SMB, web page, email, and the front USB port. Auto duplex is standard. Wired interface is Gigabit Ethernet plus dual USB 2.0 host ports; 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi is optional. Memory starts at 1 GB and goes to 5 GB. AirPrint and Android print framework are standard. Optional finishing covers staple (MX-FN38), staple plus hole-punch (MX-FN39), high-capacity output expander, and a 4-bin mailbox for sorting. Footprint is 16.85 x 20.1 x 17.4 inches at 56.4 lb. Blue Angel certified. The thing buyers regret: not budgeting the optional drawer at quote time. The 650-sheet base capacity gets thin fast at 55 ppm. Best for offices that print Word/Excel directly from mobile and want finishing without an MFP.
