The Lanier MP 401SPF is a desktop B&W laser MFP built for small offices and workgroups of 3-15 users. It prints and copies up to 42 ppm at 1200 x 1200 dpi, holds 500 sheets in the standard tray plus a 100-sheet bypass, and expands up to 1,600 sheets with the optional paper feed units. First-copy-out is 6 seconds or less and recovery from sleep is under 10 seconds. The 50-sheet Automatic Reversing Document Feeder (ARDF) handles two-sided originals (it flips, not single-pass), and the platen accepts up to 8.5" x 11". Standard connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, an SD card slot, and a USB host port; Wireless LAN is an optional 802.11a/b/g/n unit. Genuine Adobe PostScript 3 is standard, which makes this an easy drop-in for graphic and pre-press shops that previously ran a Ricoh Aficio. The 4.3-inch tilting LCD is the older Ricoh control panel — functional but not the Android-based 10.1" Smart Operation Panel found on the MP 501SPF or the A3 MP 4055/5055.
