The KIP 970 jumps the line from the 800-series to true high-volume production: 7,200 sq ft/hr in B&W and 5,760 sq ft/hr in color (roughly 20 ppm black, 16 ppm color on D-size), 600 x 1,800 dpi, and four rolls holding up to 7,800 sq ft of media across 11-36 inch widths. It's built for AEC departments, map publishers, and commercial repro shops that need uptime above all else — the OPC drum and high-cap toner cartridges are designed to keep the machine running when speed-class plotters would be swapping consumables. The 12 or 15.6-inch System K touchscreen and KIP ImagePro workflow tools are mandatory at this volume. Power is 208-240V/16A+ and the unit weighs 1,212 lbs. The thing buyers regret: at this price point you're locked into a service contract economy — make sure your annual volume justifies it (figure 30,000+ sq ft a month before the math works).
