Is this the right printer for you?
Who the Canon imagePROGRAF GP-2000 is actually for
Most equipment pages just tell you what a device does. Here's the honest version: when
this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We
offer equipment for every business need, but the right machine depends on your specific workflow.
Best fit
Pick this if...
You run a print shop, in-plant marketing team, or design studio that needs the widest color gamut Canon makes for poster, sign, and graphics work up to 24 in. wide.
You print color-critical retail POP, event graphics, and brand-color reproductions where Pantone match matters.
You need 10-color LUCIA + Fluorescent Pink — orange, green, red, violet, plus FP gets you into colors CMYK + LC/LM physically can't reach.
You print 200-1,000 prints a month and want a 500 GB built-in HD for spooled jobs and reprints without tying up your workstation.
You need built-in color calibration and Intelligent Media Handling so the printer manages itself between paper changes.
Works fine
You'll be happy if...
You print 1,000-2,000 prints a month — works fine, you'll just want to standardize on 700 ml ink tanks (PFI-2700) to keep cost-per-print sane.
You print mostly fine art photo (not signage) — the GP-2000 is excellent at this, but the LUCIA PRO 12-color set on the PRO-2100 is the dedicated photo tool.
You're consolidating a GP-200 (basic FP) and a separate Pantone-match printer into one — the GP-2000 does both.
You want license-free poster templates — bundled PosterArtist Lite is included.
Look elsewhere
Skip this if...
You only need standard CMYK signage at 24 in. — the GP-200 does that for less and the 5-color set is fine.
You need wider than 24 in. — get the GP-4000 (44 in., same 10-color + FP set).
You print high-volume CAD or technical drawings — get the TX-3100 or TX-4100 with LUCIA TD ink (water-resistant).
You don't have a calibrated workflow with ICC profiles and color-managed monitors — you're paying for color depth you can't reproduce.
You print fewer than 50 prints a month — the GP-2000 is overkill; ink shelf life and head clogging become real concerns at low volume.
Full specifications
Every spec, no guessing
The Canon imagePROGRAF GP-2000 is the 24-inch flagship of Canon's GP series — the company's first aqueous pigment Fluorescent Pink ink platform paired with a 10-color LUCIA pigment set (MBK, BK, GY, C, M, Y, R, O, G, V) for the largest color gamut of any imagePROGRAF printer. The Fluorescent Pink layers on the paper surface during printing through Canon's Radiant Infusion technology, expanding the reproducible gamut into colors standard CMYK can't physically reach. Maximum resolution is 2400 x 1200 dpi. Cut sheet and roll feed both range from 6 to 24 in. wide. The printer ships with a 500 GB built-in hard drive for spooling, job storage, and reprints; built-in color calibration; Intelligent Media Handling; and front-USB thumb drive printing. Ink tanks are PFI-2100 (160 ml), PFI-2300 (330 ml), or PFI-2700 (700 ml). Dimensions are 43.3 x 30.2 x 46 in. with the basket closed, weight ~225 lb. We sell the GP-2000 to print shops, in-plant marketing teams, and design studios that need color-critical, wide-gamut output for retail POP, brand-color reproductions, fine art prints, and event graphics. The thing buyers regret: paying for colors they don't print. If you only print signage in standard CMYK, the GP-200 gets you the FP capability for half the money.
Three ways to get this printer, each priced to match how you actually use it. Most
small offices lease because toner and maintenance are bundled. If you know what you need, buy
outright. If you already own one, just reorder supplies.
Final lease rate depends on term length, credit profile, and bundled supplies. Outright purchase and
supplies pricing varies with bundled warranty, install packages, and order volume. Request a quote for

FAQ
Canon imagePROGRAF GP-2000, common questions
The questions we get asked most often on this model. If yours isn't here, call (888) 574-5120 and get an answer in about 30 seconds.
The Canon imagePROGRAF GP-2000 does not use toner; it uses pigment-based ink tanks. It ships with starter ink tanks, and replacement options include PFI-2100 (160 ml), PFI-2300 (330 ml), and PFI-2700 (700 ml). The 700 ml tanks offer the highest capacity, reducing replacement frequency. When you lease through us with ink included, you never pay for ink separately.
The Canon imagePROGRAF GP-2000 is a 24-inch wide-format inkjet printer designed for color-critical graphics, using aqueous pigment ink with a 10-color LUCIA set plus Fluorescent Pink. The Canon Arizona 1240 GT is a true-flatbed UV-curable printer for rigid substrates up to 49.6 x 98.8 inches, using CMYK with Océ VariaDot grayscale technology. The GP-2000 is ideal for print shops and design studios, while the Arizona 1240 GT is built for industrial sign and graphics production. The Arizona requires 208-240 VAC power and compressed air, making it less suitable for small offices. For small offices, the GP-2000 is a more practical choice.
The Canon imagePROGRAF GP-2000 is best suited for print shops, in-plant marketing teams, or design studios with high color-critical printing needs. Its wide color gamut and Fluorescent Pink ink make it ideal for retail POP, fine art prints, and event graphics. However, its size, weight (~225 lb), and advanced features may be overkill for small businesses with lower print volumes.
