The WideTEK 36 is a 36-inch wide-format CCD scanner aimed at archives, fine-art reproduction, and newspaper/billboard digitization. It runs 1,200 x 1,200 dpi true optical (9,600 dpi interpolated), maximum scan speed 15 inches per second at 200 dpi (2.5 inches per second at 1,200 dpi), face-up scanning with a built-in Linux PC for standalone operation, and LED illumination with 50,000-hour lamp life — UV/IR-free for sensitive materials. Connectivity covers Ethernet plus Scan2USB, Scan2Network, and Scan2Print. Documents up to 3.0 mm thick are supported. The honest catch: face-up scanning means originals lie flat on the bed, so very long rolls are hard to handle — for that, the 36DS or 36CL is the right tool. And it's not built for batch loose-page work; it's built for high-fidelity capture of large originals one at a time. Best fit: museums, fine-art studios, and archives that need 36-inch capture without a duplex sheet feeder.
