Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Lanier MP 2852SP is actually for

Most equipment pages just tell you what a device does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We offer equipment for every business need, but the right machine depends on your specific workflow.

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You run a small or mid office of 10-30 people printing 3,000-7,000 pages a month — the MP 2852SP is the print/scan-enabled (SP) variant of the MP 2852.
  • You need full network printing with PostScript 3 standard — not optional.
  • You scan to email/folder/USB regularly via the 100-sheet ARDF and the standard scan-to-network suite.
  • You want auto duplex on print and scan as standard.
  • You're standardizing on the older Lanier MP 2352SP/2852SP/3352SP fleet.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print 7,000-10,000 pages monthly — within rated duty.
  • You want Wi-Fi — wireless is an optional accessory, not standard.
  • You expand paper capacity later — supports 2,300 sheets max.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You print under 2,000 pages a month — overkill. Get the MP 2501SP.
  • You need 1200 dpi — this is 600 dpi only. The MP 2554/2555SP generation upgraded.
  • You need color — mono only.
  • You're cross-shopping with the newer MP 2554 — operators will notice the older UI immediately.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Lanier MP 2852SP is the 28 ppm A3 mono laser MFP — the SP (print/scan-enabled) variant of the MP 2852 in the older Lanier MP 2352/2852/3352 family. It targets small and mid offices of 10-30 printing 3,000-7,000 pages a month. The chassis runs at 28 ppm at 600 dpi with a 4.5-second first-page-out, holds 1,100 sheets standard (expandable to 2,300), and is rated for 100,000 pages per month. The 100-sheet ARDF handles routine multi-page scans. Print, copy, scan, and fax are all standard, with auto duplex on print and scan, plus PostScript 3 included along with PCL5e/6. Connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet plus USB; Wi-Fi and NFC are optional. The chassis is 32.6 x 23.1 x 25.7 inches at 165 lb on a 120V/12A circuit. The thing buyers regret: assuming MP 2852 and MP 2852SP are the same machine. The SP variant adds standard PostScript and full network print/scan that the base 2852 leaves on the options sheet — confirm the model number on quote, not just the marketing name.
