Who the Lanier LW426 is actually for

Most equipment pages just tell you what a device does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We offer equipment for every business need, but the right machine depends on your specific workflow.

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You run a small or mid-size AEC office printing 2,000-8,000 sq/ft of D-size and E-size drawings monthly.
  • You want better print resolution than the LW3xx line — 1200x600 dpi handles grayscale renderings and shaded plans cleanly.
  • You need 1 or 2 roll positions and a more compact footprint than the LW410/LW411 floor units.
  • You print mono drawings, plats, schematics, and the occasional rendering for client presentations.
  • You're standardizing on Lanier or Ricoh and want supply-chain commonality with desktop A4 fleet.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print 5,000-8,000 sq/ft monthly — well within rated duty but the 6 ppm starts to feel slow on big sets.
  • You scan markups occasionally — the optional scanner head adds full MFP capability.
  • You're sharing it across a couple of seats — print queue handling is solid through Ethernet.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You print 10,000+ sq/ft monthly with constant queues — at 6 ppm this becomes a bottleneck. Step up to LW411 (8 ppm) or LW5100 (10 ppm).
  • You need 4-roll loading — the LW426 tops out at 2 rolls. Get the LW411.
  • You need color — mono only.
  • You expect fast first-print — 18 seconds is fine for production but slow if you walked over for one rush plot.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Lanier LW426 is a mid-tier mono wide format laser MFP that bridges the compact LW3xx line and the LW4xx production class. Rated at 6 D-size pages per minute with 1200 x 600 dpi resolution — sharper than most of the LW family — it lands as a small-office workhorse for firms printing 2,000-8,000 sq/ft per month. The chassis is 22.8 x 42.5 x 25 inches at 236 lb with 1 or 2 roll positions, so it's compact enough for small offices but rated for an 80,000-page monthly duty cycle. First-print is 18 seconds; full plot speed is consistent with the LW410. Connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet and USB with PostScript option for grayscale rendering work. The optional scanner head turns it into a true MFP — without it, you can copy via the platen but not scan-to-network. The thing buyers regret: assuming the better resolution makes up for the slower engine. It does for renderings and shaded drawings, but not for big sheet sets. If your office plots full drawing batches daily, the LW411 at 8 ppm is the right pick even at lower resolution.
