The KIP 7970 is a single-function high-resolution 36-inch monochrome plotter running 13-14 D/A1 pages per minute at 600 x 2400 dpi. It uses a 4-roll LED electrophotography system with a 12.1- or 15.6-inch multi-touch operator console — meaningfully nicer to drive than the older button-and-lcd KIP control panels. The closed-toner HDP system is 100% toner efficient (no waste bottle), which keeps consumable costs predictable and the room cleaner. It's print-only — no copy or scan — so this is for shops that want production-class throughput at high resolution without paying for an MFP scanner they won't use. The thing buyers regret most: the 7970 is genuinely a top-tier plotter, but teams that needed walk-up copy or scan workflow bought the print-only 7970 first and then had to add an external scan setup that broke their PrintNET integration — the 7980 MFP would have been the right call.
