Is this the right printer for you?
Who the Canon imagePRESS Lite C265 is actually for
Most equipment pages just tell you what a device does. Here's the honest version: when
this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We
offer equipment for every business need, but the right machine depends on your specific workflow.
Best fit
Pick this if...
You run an in-house print room, design department, or small commercial shop printing 8,000-30,000 pages a month and want production-class image quality in a desktop-class footprint (27.1 x 37.1 inches).
You produce occasional 13x19 short-run work and need 2400 dpi R-VCSEL output, not office-MFP quality.
You scan high volumes — the 200-sheet single-pass duplex ADF runs 270 ipm color / 270 ipm BW duplex (faster than the older C165's 220 ipm).
You need full MFP capability: print, copy, scan-to-email/SMB/FTP/USB/Advanced Box/cloud, plus optional fax.
You want SSD storage (256 GB standard, 1 TB max with mirroring) for faster job spooling and quieter operation.
Works fine
You'll be happy if...
You print 30,000-50,000 pages a month — the C265 handles it but the C270 (faster engine, same chassis) fits the volume better.
You need 11x17 occasionally — works fine, but Tray 1/2 are Letter only; 11x17 comes from Tray 3/4 or the bypass.
You want Fiery — the optional imagePRESS Server L30 V2 (FS400 Pro) or M10 V2 (FS400) bolt on; standard imagePRESS Printer Kit-G1E covers most office workflows.
You're replacing an older imagePRESS Lite C165 — same form factor, faster scanner, SSD instead of HDD; expect minimal operator retraining.
Look elsewhere
Skip this if...
You print over 50,000 pages a month — the C265 is the slower Lite C265/C270 sibling; the C270 or a C710-class production press is the better fit.
You need a 300-sheet ADF — the C265 has a 200-sheet ADF, down from 300 on the older C165/C170 generation.
You need automatic duplex on 130 lb. Cover — auto-duplex is capped at 80 lb. Cover (220 gsm); heavier stocks are simplex only.
You need a 1,200 dpi engine for compatibility with legacy color profiles — the C265 only outputs 2400 dpi.
You don't have a Canon dealer relationship — toner and click billing run through dealer channels.
Full specifications
Every spec, no guessing
The Canon imagePRESS Lite C265 is the slower sibling in the newer Lite C265/C270 family — the successor generation to the Lite C165/C170. It runs at 65 ppm color / 70 ppm BW Letter (32 ipm color / 35 ipm BW on 11x17), with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, 4 GB of RAM, and 256 GB SSD storage standard (1 TB max with mirroring SSD via RAID 1). The chassis is slightly shallower than the C165/C170 (46.7 inches H versus 48 inches), and the ADF dropped from 300 sheets to 200 sheets — but scan throughput went up to 270 ipm color / 270 ipm BW duplex (versus 220/240 on the older Lite). Standard Letter paper capacity is 3,300 sheets across two engine cassettes plus two larger trays; max with optional decks is 8,550 sheets. Stack bypass takes stocks up to 130 lb. Cover (350 gsm). Full scan destination set: email, SMB, FTP, WebDAV, USB, Advanced Box, Mail Box, i-Fax, plus scan-to-cloud via uniFLOW. McAfee Embedded Control is part of the security baseline. The thing buyers regret: assuming the C265 is a straight upgrade from the C165. The ADF tray dropped from 300 to 200 sheets — if you scan large stacks daily, that's a real workflow difference; budget for an interruption mid-stack on jobs over 200 originals.

How you can buy this printer
Buy it, lease it, or just reorder supplies
Three ways to get this printer, each priced to match how you actually use it. Most
small offices lease because toner and maintenance are bundled. If you know what you need, buy
outright. If you already own one, just reorder supplies.
Final lease rate depends on term length, credit profile, and bundled supplies. Outright purchase and
supplies pricing varies with bundled warranty, install packages, and order volume. Request a quote for
exact pricing.
